I believe that everybody did a great job given this was our second powerpoint for the course. We all did the best of our abilities, showcasing our said disability and giving video evidence for it. I love how even our small acts can inspire some of us to do these things to a greater extent in the future. As an economics major, I could definitely put powerpoints into use by putting all of my data into slides and presenting it that way. I liked how we all messaged each other to make sure that we were doing our parts correctly and I enjoyed working with Alex.  When it came to presenting, we were definitely nervous but we tried our best to represent at the best of our abilities. I was nervous when I had started but as I spoke I got the groove and tried to get past it as fast as possible. I believe this class is incredibly important because I need as much public speaking experience as possible to get myself comfortable around others. I’d love to learn all about elevator pitches and...

In these presentations, although I did miss them, I did watch the recording of the presentations in order to complete this assignment. Overall, I think each group did a good job covering their chapters, topics, and disabilities. I also think in a general view the videos presented in each group were very detailed and informative, they made great choices in selecting the videos to share with the rest of the class to ensure that they have a better understanding of each disability. In group one, the chapters we discussed within this group  would talk about how you would write, prepare, and reach your goal in the speech you’re working on for whatever topic. We talked about everything that would go into making your speech in a way that would grab your audience’s attention while making sure they understand it. Things such as how to organize along with what should be included in the speech, presentation aids that could be used to help get your point across or the audience’s attenti...

Overall all the presentations were excellent, even though with the time and everything is a little more complicated based on the COVID-19 situation. Not all the internets are the same, and they tend to freeze sometimes, I can say that everybody did the best and try to take this as seriously as it was a regular class. I can say that this one is one of the essential topics between all the presentations because it is such an important issue. Disabilities are something that all of us have. Sometimes it can be more visible in one person than the other, but in the end, we all have flaws, or something considered not “normal” in society.    I was in group 1 we talked about how everything works at the time of a presentation and how everything can help to make a better presentation. We talked about cerebral palsy and scoliosis. How it is a physical disability that affects movement and posture, but how it goes beyond that like American vs. world perspective, history, and overview ...

I think overall, all the presentations were excellent. Each of the groups had different chapters, just as each had various disabilities. The first group, which I was in, presented chapters four, eleven, twelve, thirteen, and fourteen. The exhibition of these chapters was incredible; we showed numerous images and videos. After this, we present two disabilities, Cerebral Palsy and Scoliosis. These chapters helped me a lot as I learned how to relate verbally more fluently. Also, in this part, several tips on how to communicate correctly, how to organize a speech, and how to improve communication were discussed. Within these topics, we discuss the importance of keeping the message brief so that it is easier to understand and to keep the audience's attention so that they pay attention to what you are raising. We also show how to develop an introduction, development, and conclusions so that our speech is effective. When we got to the disability part, our group explained what scoliosis ...

All three presentations were really good with great qualities, you can appreciate that every team did vast research and put a lot of effort into these presentations. Every single one of them brought some new knowledge to me about the disabilities that we were assigned. Our group “Group One” were assigned Cerebral Palsy and Scoliosis, two very common types of disabilities Cerebral Palsy affects over 17 million people around the world. There are many types of Cerebral Palsy and it can be from mild to severe paralysis. Although there is no cure for Cerebral Palsy it can be treated to improve life for the people whit this condition. Every case is different and therefore it requires personalized treatment for each case. The TED Talk of Maysoon Zayid present by Manny was instructive and hilarious, she explains the way she perceives her condition whit funny tales of her life. The title of the presentation said all, “I got 99 problems … palsy is just one”. We also talked about scoliosi...

Second Blog for Presentation 2 by Jennifer Concepcion

In group 1 we were assigned to present chapters four, eleven, twelve, thirteen, and fourteen. In chapter four we spoke about verbal messages, the relationships they possess, and their meanings. During these chapters we spoke about topic selections and their developments. How we would write and prepare a speech and how we reach the goal we want to obtain while writing our speech. We learned how to organize our speeches and what we should have in our speech, we also spoke about presentational aids such as computers and whiteboards, the benefits we achieve by using presentational aids and how to present our speech in a way that everyone in the audience could understand. In addition to the chapters we had the chance to choose two disabilities for which we wanted to do research on to present information about the disabilities. The two we chose were cerebral palsy and scoliosis. I was able to understand how many people that have cerebral palsy can also have a type of scoliosis. The videos on...

My experience during the presentations went very well, I learned more than I could if I read the chapters only. The presentations were very detailed in their explanation of each the chapters and their disabilities that were assigned to each group. Group one was assigned chapter four, eleven, twelve, and fourteen. The disabilities they covered were Cerebral Palsy and Scoliosis. While covering the chapters I learned and understood more about language and communication skills that help improve your speech patterns to sound more professional. Chapter four was Verbal Messages which talked about language and its meaning which included the definition of language and where the term derives from. Chapter four also talks about how language changes everyday but the way we express our emotions is limited by the accuracy of our language and how vast it is. Chapter eleven was Topic Selection and Development which introduced the rhetorical situation that explained how to plan for a speech and al...
