Blog post #2

In these presentations, although I did miss them, I did watch the recording of the presentations in order to complete this assignment. Overall, I think each group did a good job covering their chapters, topics, and disabilities. I also think in a general view the videos presented in each group were very detailed and informative, they made great choices in selecting the videos to share with the rest of the class to ensure that they have a better understanding of each disability. In group one, the chapters we discussed within this group  would talk about how you would write, prepare, and reach your goal in the speech you’re working on for whatever topic. We talked about everything that would go into making your speech in a way that would grab your audience’s attention while making sure they understand it. Things such as how to organize along with what should be included in the speech, presentation aids that could be used to help get your point across or the audience’s attention, and the way you should clearly present your information to your audience. For our disabilities we chose to talk about cerebral palsy and scoliosis, the information we had in our presentation were very informative when you don’t have a clear understanding of what exactly it is and what can cause it. I know before this presentation, I personally didn’t have a full understanding of cerebral palsy but after seeing the research I now do have a better overall understanding of it. Group two covered chapters six and fifteen through seventeen. In chapters 15-17, they talk about everything that has to do with the delivery and speaking aspects of giving a speech and in chapter 6 they covered the different types of listening techniques. I feel that this group did an excellent job in really covering and explaining the most important parts of these chapters. As for the disabilities they chose, I also think they did a good job at explaining what it is and giving the rest of us the general knowledge needed to know about their disabilities. In group 3, I think they as well did a great job at covering the information they gave to us based on their chapters. In their disabilities they discussed different types of  vision and hearing loss disabilities. Watching these presentations, I did get a better understanding of what goes into giving speeches and what to really consider putting into them and how you should deliver them to keep the audience’s attention throughout your speech no matter the topic you’re giving the speech about. Seeing and hearing the different disabilities each group picked to discuss in their presentations, I already had very little background knowledge of them but they did help me get a better understanding of them. My personal favorite disabilities to have heard about, although I did know just the basics about it, was the hearing disabilities and when they brought up the sign language video and about it I was very intrigued since i’ve been slowly learning sign language myself.
