Overall all the presentations were excellent, even though with the time and everything is a little more complicated based on the COVID-19 situation. Not all the internets are the same, and they tend to freeze sometimes, I can say that everybody did the best and try to take this as seriously as it was a regular class. I can say that this one is one of the essential topics between all the presentations because it is such an important issue. Disabilities are something that all of us have. Sometimes it can be more visible in one person than the other, but in the end, we all have flaws, or something considered not “normal” in society.
I was in group 1 we talked about how everything works at the time of a presentation and how everything can help to make a better presentation. We talked about cerebral palsy and scoliosis. How it is a physical disability that affects movement and posture, but how it goes beyond that like American vs. world perspective, history, and overview of the topic. Ted talks that to be honest were fundamental to make us understand this disability; it can come in any form, not just one way. Meanwhile, scoliosis is a curve on the spine that is common. While most of the time is not threatening life, it can be made to feel the person depressed and an outsider because they usually have to wear this cast for 16 to 23 hours.
Meanwhile, group 2 explained the invisible disabilities and how they are there even if we do not see it; there are still there. They showed a bunch of disabilities like psychological and cognitive learning and explained it, showing me how important it was to know all of this. At the same time, there are many people only in the USA that have invisible disabilities, around 10 percent of the population. Group 3 explained all about hearing, seeing-vision, and head injuries. Explaining that hearing loss is a common problem that can happen at any age, there are three parts of the ear, and more than one part can be affected at the same time. Seeing- vision is the loss of eyesight, and it can be caused due to a lot of different reasons. There are many different types of head injuries, but hemorrhage and edema are the most important ones.
All of this project will be shown for the disability awareness month on the Hialeah campus. Showing all of this information, I think it will make a difference because we can educate people and learn about all these. It was enjoyable and exciting, looking at all of this information. For me, my favorite part was looking up at all of the organizations for scoliosis. Even though I am not involved in it, that why I do not see it, but there are so of the things that I have loved about one of the organizations. It just started with 35 people and nowadays is one of the most prominent organizations in the country, helping people with scoliosis.

Maybe you can volunteer for this organization. Excellent reflection!
